What I love about this quote is that it’s from Steve Jobs, such a well-known entrepreneur and technological leader. It goes to show that mindfulness is not only beneficial for those who profess a religious or spiritual reason to practice it; it is a practice for all.
Slowing down your ‘thinking’ and ‘doing’, with mindful practices, stimulates the vagus nerve and the branch of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) known as the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS), eliciting the ‘rest and digest’ response. Conversely, the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS)/ ‘fight or flight’ stress response, though an essential branch of the ANS when needed; may be over utilised and may be contributing to the chronic conditions and symptoms you are experiencing.
Whether you are experiencing conditions/symptoms relating to digestive disorders, sleeplessness, weight gain and/or hormone imbalances, practicing Mindfulness may be hugely beneficial for you. I believe starting small and building on your practice is key. If suitable, I will explore practices with you that fit into your daily life in order to benefit you in helping you reach your health goals. Examples include breathing techniques, yoga practice, mindful moments and may involve as little as 5-minutes of practice per day.
