Movement is such an important factor in your health and wellbeing and may include formal exercise; aerobic, strength/ resistance, flexibility but also NEAT exercise.  But what is NEAT?

NEAT or non-exercise activity thermogenesis, includes activities that you may perform on an everyday basis, without even realising that you are moving your body and using energy.  This may include hoovering, climbing stairs, gardening, bringing in firewood.

It may also involve walking to the bus, your car or for shopping.  There are many instances and opportunities for NEAT that may be discussed with you in clinic.

Regarding formal exercise, many assume that a rigorous aerobic exercise regime is the ‘gold standard’ in helping to address ongoing health concerns, particularly with issues such as obesity/ weight gain, feeling unfit/ demotivated.  You may be inspired to know that reducing stress and finding a balance with exercise is the real ‘gold standard’.  At FeelWell Nutrition the best exercise for you; the what, where and when, regarding what type of  movement will work best for you and how it will fit into your daily life, is explored.  Together, we may consider more calmative/ restorative activities, workouts, formal exercise, NEAT and/or a mixture that suits you and your routine.  The main objective is movement!
